A date during sunset...

Alright. This isn't fair. Jim obviously went somewhere and did not bring me along . It ain't fair. Just because I'm a hamster and I'm small and everything then I can't come along is it? Hey, I wanna go.
.
Haha. Jim here. Hi guys. Ya, the reason why I didn't bring Hammy along is because I do not want Hammy to be eaten by dogs. Do you know there were many many dogs at Cottesloe beach? F.Y.I Hammy, you didn't even take me to UK when you were there. What do you have to say about that? Haha, anyway, straight to the point. Oh ya, I went to Cottesloe beach yesterday by the way. Here is my story.
.
I was chatting with a friend and suddenly she mentioned Cottesloe beach. Then, an idea came to me. I mean, I had heard of Cottesloe beach for a very very very long time already. I had been here for like almost a year and I had yet to pay a little visit to Cottesloe beach. Besides, I'm staying in Claremont. It's like a 10 minutes bus right from where I stay to the beach. It was also kinda like an impromptu decision to go. I thought about it on Sunday and I went on Monday. With no plannings and anything...I just went. Of course, I didn't just go there for nothing. That Monday morning itself, I told God that I want Him to be there as well. To spend alone time with Him. So, what did I pack in my bag?
.
1. Bottle of water
2. Bible
3. Biscuit
4. Pen and notebook ( in case a song pops up in my head)
5. My good old faithful boxy camera
.
Alright. I came back from uni and I was so excited to get there. I packed everything and all. I was really really really excited you know. So, I prepared dinner first. The time was 5pm and I finished around 5.30pm. Sick, I am a little late. I'm supposed to reach the beach at 6pm ( as suggested by my friend) but I arrived at my Claremont bus stop at 5.44pm. I missed the 5.43pm bus and the next bus is 6.02pm. Oh no. I was a little impatient. There were thoughts of going back to my apartment and go to the beach another day but I told myself, I'm already out, just go. Hm...well, what if the sun already sets when I reach there? Isn't that like a total waste? So, I told God to hold the sun for me so that I can see the sunset cause I really really really wanted to see it. My hopes and expectations were high. 6.02pm, the bus is still not here yet. I can see that the sun is quite low already and is preparing to hide behind the horizon. Oh no, quick, where's the bus?!!! 6.05pm came and yes, finally, a familiar sight. A sight where you will say, 'yes, finally!!! ' . The bus arrived and I boarded it with full of joy.
.
I kept on looking at the sun to see whether is it going to set or not. Every time the bus stops for a person or a red light, I will go 'come on, faster faster'. I didn't even have any interest in knowing the time. I just looked at the sun. 10 minutes later, there I was, Cottesloe beach. I didn't even stop at the Cottesloe bus stop. I got off like 3 stops before that because I just can't wait. That's how impatient I was. So, yes, here I was, and I quickly took my camera out and started clicking away. Here are the pictures.
.
The sun, already touching the sea.
.

Another one.
.

I like this. The sun's reflection on the beach. Cools...
.

This is how the beach looks like. See a figure at the far end? He's fishing.
.

Simply nice.
.

The sun starting to go down. Wait for me....
.

I still managed to carved my name on the sand. Right after taking this picture, the water in front came rushing in and my name got washed away. The water almost got me you know. Good thing I was quick to run away. Hahaha...
.

The sun, now gone....
.

Bubbles...blooop bloop blooooop...
.

.
Well, it was just breathtaking ain't it.. Words couldn't explain it but the pictures will tell you everything. While taking those pictures, I took my bible out and I randomly fliped it. Guess what was the title of the passage... " The sun stood still". It was about the sun!! haha..but wait, I'm just witnessed a sunset. The sun went down...but, stood still?
.
12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel:
.
"O sun, stand still over Gibeon,
O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."
.
13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
.
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
.
14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!
.
15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.
.
I looked up on the internet about the meaning of this post. On the theological side, it's a little complicated. Until now, I'm still figuring out what God meant about this passage that He had revealed to me and what He wants me to learn. Then, this led me to recall about the Jewish time of the day. A jewish day actually starts when the sun sets. Yup, not in the morning like we do, but when the sun sets. This is because, during those times, there is no watch or clock. So, the jews looked for something to refer to, something that is accurate and universal - the sunset. Why sunset and not sunrise? This also has to do with our origin. We humans , we started out life in our mother's womb, in darkness. Then, we came into light, into this bright world. As we passed away, we return into the earth, which is darkness. Thus, a complete cycle. Get the meaning.? Interesting.
.
Anyway, I will continue to ponder upon this . Alright then, I got to go now. I will definitely come back to Cottesloe beach to find out more. This time, I will go there without my camera, and to concentrate more on Him, who created such a magnificent sight. People, if the sunset is already beautiful, how much more beautiful is the creator?
